This 1894 map, originally compiled in 1860, shows military instillations
and routes in the West prior to and during the Civil War years. Shown here
is a portion of the map covering the area from San Francisco to Ogden over
which the CPRR was built from 1863 to 1869.

area from Sacramento to the Truckee River at the end of the Civil War when
the tracks of CPRR were just entering the Sierra Nevadas.
