Central Pacific Railroad Telegraph Key with Sounder

Central Pacific Railroad Telegraph Key

Central Pacific Railroad telegraph key and sounder.  This rear view shows "CPRR" stamped into the metal of the sounder (the front of the sounder is stamped "Signal").  The binding posts are not original.  This type of key
was invented in the mid 1880's and the company "Signal" was formed in 1898.  This key was likely built
between 1898 and 1915.
