Folsom Oct 21st 1862

A.R. Guppy
[Sacramento] City
        [Dear] Sir
I can give you the work of which I spoke yesterday if you desire it. I shall go out as soon as I am able to work, probably the first of next week. If you can go with me, please drop me a line, and I will notify you when I am ready. The work will occupy a month, perhaps longer.

Yours Truly,
Sam S. Montague

On January 1, 1872 at Pacheco, Contra Costa County, California, Alonzo Russell Guppy married Frances Annette Sherman (born December 23, 1849 at Berkshire, Ohio), and they had four children. Another genealogy entry guesses that he was born about 1845, and records the marriage as having been at Martinez, California.
